KrisFlyer goes digital,

KrisFlyer goes digital with the introduction of the new KrisFlyer digital wallet. This initiative promises a host of benefits using world-first blockchain technology.

KrisFlyer goes digital: what it means for you

The SIA Group’s KrisFlyer frequent-flyer programme will use blockchain technology to unlock the value of members’ KrisFlyer miles. This will enable their use for everyday spending at retail partners.

How it works

  • Introduction of a new KrisFlyer digital wallet app utilising this innovative technology.
  • Launch date by mid-2018.
  • KrisFlyer members can use ‘digital KrisFlyer miles’ for point-of-sale transactions at participating retail merchants.
  • Initial availability will be using Singapore merchants.

The system has successfully completed the testing phase, carried out in collaboration with KPMG Digital Village and Microsoft. KrisFlyer will now sign-up retail merchant partners, initially in the Singapore market.

KrisFlyer goes digital as part of the airline’s recently unveiled Digital Innovation Blueprint, planned to make SIA the world’s leading digital airline. This programme will be enabled through blockchain technology, using an SIA-owned private blockchain involving only merchants and partners.

…. Innovation has been a key contributor to the success of Singapore Airlines since Day 1 and we are very excited about this world-first initiative, which will bring even more benefits to members of our KrisFlyer programme. Singapore Airlines CEO Goh Choon Phong.
