Malaysian autogate entry has been available for Malaysian passport holders for many years now and their use has recently been made available for Permanent Residents and Long Term Pass holders. Since 1st December 2023, passport holders of ten countries may also use this facility for entry at both Terminals of Kuala Lumpur International Airport, KLIA. Prior registration is required three days before entry using the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC).

To use the autogates at KLIA for immigration clearance, visitors must:

  • have passports with a validity period of six months or more
  • submit the MDAC three days before arrival
    • not required for permanent residents and long-term pass holders

Visitors will not be able to use the autogate on the first visit, despite submitting the MDAC three days before arriving, as the documents must be verified at the manual counter by Immigration personnel although it may be used for departure. The autogates can only be used for subsequent arrival and departure if their enrolment in the scheme is successful.

MDAC must be submitted three days before every visit to Malaysia.

On its website for the online registration of MDAC, the department said the requirement to submit MDAC before arriving in Malaysia applies to all travellers from the listed countries, except for three categories.
  • Travellers transiting or transferring through Singapore without seeking immigration clearance
  • Malaysian permanent residents
  • Malaysian Automated Clearance System (MACS) Holder.

To register and submit MDAC, travellers must use the Immigration Department’s website.
