It looks like everyone wants to visit Japan now borders are open again. Flights are being added from points across the world in response to the demand and Malaysia is no exception. However, all the flights currently on offer are only to Tokyo (Haneda and Narita) and Osaka (Kansai).

Visit Japan this Winter and Spring

If you’re planning a trip in Spring to see the sakura blooming, they usually bloom between mid-March and early May. This varies depending on location and temperature. In the south, you should see the cherry blossoms from about mid-March in locations like Fukuoka and a little later in Kyoto and Tokyo. In the northern areas like Sapporo in Hokkaido, you may have to wait until it warms up in late April.

If it’s your preference to visit Japan and enjoy the snow this coming winter, none of the Malaysian airlines is flying directly to Hokkaido, home of the snowfields, so you can look for a flight to Haneda, where you have a wide choice of domestic services available to Sapporo – Shin-Chitose.

Batik Air have just announced the launch of daily flights between Kuala Lumpur and Tokyo-Narita International Airport, starting 15th December 2022. The service will utilise their new Boeing 737-8 aircraft, fitted with 12 Business and 150 Economy Class seats. Batik Air have recently acquired three aircraft in this configuration, to be used for their longer flights. Flight OD680 will depart Kuala Lumpur (KLIA) at the convenient time of 12:35 pm, arriving Narita at 8:50 pm. The return flight OD681 departs Narita at 10:00 pm to arrive in KLIA at 05:10 am.

Launch promo fares

The flights are now open for bookings and Batik Air is offering an all-inclusive one-way promotional fare of RM1599 for Economy Class and RM4959 for Business Class ex-Malaysia. Out of Japan, you’ll pay JPY57,300 for Economy Class and JPY178,000 for Business Class.

Malaysia Airlines is increasing flight frequencies from the initial October schedule to fly from Kuala Lumpur to Tokyo(Narita or Haneda) and Osaka(Kansai). While the service to Haneda is an afternoon flight, the flights to Narita (daily flights from November) and Kansai (5 flights weekly) are overnight, returning the next day. Flights to Tokyo (Haneda) increase from 2 to 3 weekly in November, and 5 weekly in December. Pick up your tickets from their website, of download their app.

AirAsia X flies 4 times weekly to Osaka (Kansai), Tokyo (Haneda) 3 times weekly, but they don’t fly to Tokyo (Narita) . We can expect the number of flights to increase as they get their hibernated aircraft back in the air and their flight and cabin crew numbers back to full strength. Make your bookings or download their app for iPhone, Android or Hwawei, from their website.
