Following the prolonged Covid-19 shut-down of many of their routes, passengers were left with cancelled flights and tickets they couldn’t change. AirAsia offered either refunds, flight changes or travel credits to ticket holders, depending on various factors. As the situation slowly begins to return to normal, AirAsia refunds have been almost completed, with only 0.8% of the cash refund amount still outstanding.
AirAsia refunds and credits
The AirAsia Aviation Group has clarified that it has resolved over 99% of guest queries and refund requests resulting from the Covid-19 two year pandemic disruptions. Pre-Covid, AirAsia was flying close to 100 million passengers per year, averaging around 200,000 daily during peak periods. This has meant a huge volume of queries and the airline Group has provided a cash refund or credit shell to over three million bookings to date.

As the airline is returning flights to most of their key routes and with Malaysian International borders opening on 1st April, they are working hard to resolve the refund of the remaining USD14.66 million as soon as possible.
Bo Lingham added that guests are updated with emails regarding their refund status, and they may also check the status of their refund 24 hours a day via AVA, AirAsia’s multilingual virtual Allstar.
He also thanked the millions of guests who accepted their refund in the form of a credit account, which has help support their recovery.
