Malaysia’s new low-cost airline, MYAirline, will partners with Geven, one of the world’s leading aircraft interior providers, to equip all their A320 fleet with ergonomic aircraft seats manufactured in Italy called “superEco”. MYAirline currently operates four Aircraft with another four on order or in planning. Each aircraft offers single class seating for 180 passengers across a single aisle.
Ergonomic aircraft seats
The key features of ergonomic design, must offer efficiency and comfort to the user. To address these factors, the superEco seat design features a padded dress cover, self-structural bottom cushion, lower literature pocket and flush armrests, all of which increases the passenger’s comfort level. MYAirline’s pre-reclined seat angle of 109.4 degrees provides a more comfortable seating position when compared to that offered some of the competition. This seat angle ensures that there is always enough space for all travellers and helps prevent clashes between seats and passengers.
Featuring a customised ELeather padded dress cover, this innovative lightweight material is one of a kind, using natural leather fibres entangled with high performance core material. The fibres are sourced from leather trimmings that would otherwise go to landfills. The manufacturer promises a fresh, vibrant and lightweight design, with low cost of ownership and durable parts to create a comfortable seat for short and medium-haul flights.
… We are pleased to see our newborn superEco seats reach the APAC skies for the first time with MYAirline. Selecting this innovative lightweight seat to outfit its fleet will allow MYAirline to contribute to its sustainability efforts via reducing fuel consumption and emissions while offering passengers maximum comfort and travel space. Alberto Veneruso, Managing Director of Geven.
MYAirline CEO, Rayner Teo says the airline takes pride in ensuring that they provide highly comfortable seats. He added that passengers can enjoy their journey without having to adjust their pre-reclined seats during take-off or landing. He also noted that beside being comfortable, the superEco seats are not only lightweight but easy to maintain.

Ergonomic aircraft seats also require you to be able to access them easily. The superEco fittings offer more leg room for passengers than many other airlines through their pitch (the measurement between one point of a seat to the same point of the next) of 28-29”. The emergency exit row seat pitch of 34” means that the available leg room is measured at 17.3”, while other rows have an acceptable 12.3”. This gives you larger shin and knee clearance.
The other thing we like is that the usually uncomfortable and smaller middle seat is configured to be more spacious with 18.5” width compared to the aisle and window seats with 18” width. You can also comfortably watch your entertainment with ease from your personal devices with MYAirline’s personal electronic device (PED) holder built into the meal trays. So no more having to hold your device to enjoy what you’re watching.
… We are excited to embark on this partnership with Geven and for being the first in the region to offer a more sustainable aircraft seating. Its sleek, ergonomically designed seats along with it being lightweight, fits our aspiration as an eco-friendly airline. Rayner Teo
