UPDATE 2017: The Digital Departure Card has been progressively rolled out to most airports. THis saves time and makes for a much more efficient departure.

Have you ever arrived at the Departure Immigration counter of an Australian airport and realised you’ve forgotten to collect and fill in your departure card? Wouldn’t it be good if you could fill it all in before you left home and scan a code to get a printout when you get to the airport? I

n April 2015 Brisbane Airport began trials of an innovative Digital Departure Card system for international passengers, the first airport in the world to do so.

The new Digital Departure card removes the need to complete by hand, the official ‘outgoing passenger card’ (Departure Card) required for Immigration purposes. Once you have scanned the code at the kiosk, all you need to do is sign it and hand it in to the Immigration Officer with your passport.

Download the free BNE App for iPhone or Android. Once you’ve filled in your personal details it can retain these for you. The App can also be used to book parking and check flight status among other conveniences.
