AirAsia sees interstate, international travel revival

by on September 27, 2021

AirAsia is confident that Malaysia will see an interstate and international travel revival soon, with rising vaccinating rates and falling cases. Since the Malaysian government announced the resumption of interstate travel and the reopening of tourism activities could resume with 90% adult vaccination rate AirAsia is ready to fully restore its domestic and international services. This is further spurred by the success of the Langkawi travel bubble that commenced on 16th September.

Interstate and international travel revival

AirAsia believes a strong post-covid air travel recovery is due as soon as borders are reopened. Thus, they expect to resume international flights the near future and cover all the key domestic destinations. These reopened services will be complemented by stringent health and safety protocols that the airline has implemented. AirAsia has recorded overwhelming demand for recently reopened domestic leisure destinations including Langkawi in Malaysia, Boracay, Cebu and Bohol in the Philippines and Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Hat Yai in Thailand.

Load factors for these leisure destinations have been in the very healthy range of 80% – 90% with more frequencies and routes to be added soon in line with consistently strong forward bookings.

As vaccination rates across the globe continue to rise, AirAsia anticipates interstate leisure air travel will gradually continue to reopen first, potentially in coming weeks. It’s also expected that international travel could resume within the next few months, especially in the Asean region where inoculation rates are accelerating. The airline has assured travellers it is ready to welcome all guests with the highest safety standards.

For the safety for passengers and employees as part of their Covid-19 mitigation plan, AirAsia has made self-check-in mandatory for all passengers. To make the process as seamless as possible, download and make full use of the airasia Super App, the all-in-one app used for the whole journey. You can make flight and hotel bookings, check in, do health document verification and board with the e-Boarding Pass, contactless boarding with FACES and inflight services onboard.

AirAsia has undertaken numerous contactless technological innovations and improvements that provide for enhanced comfort and a hassle-free door-to-door experience.

…. The demand is already there. People can’t wait to reunite with friends and family or take off to their favourite leisure destinations and we are well prepared to paint the skies red across Asean as soon as the time is right. Bo Lingam, President (Airlines) for airasia Group

He added:

…. For Langkawi alone, AirAsia Malaysia has sold over 260,000 seats in just over a week which is a strong testament to the level of pent up demand for domestic travel.
