Since the Malaysian government announced the resumption of interstate travel and the reopening of tourism activities could resume with 90% adult vaccination rate AirAsia is ready to fully restore its domestic and international services. Interstate and international travel revival
AirAsia believes a strong post-covid air travel recovery is due as soon as borders are reopened. Thus, they expect to resume international flights the near future and cover all the key domestic destinations. These reopened services will be complemented by stringent health and safety protocols that the airline has implemented. AirAsia has recorded overwhelming demand for recently reopened domestic leisure destinations including Langkawi in Malaysia, Boracay, Cebu and Bohol in the Philippines and Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Hat Yai in Thailand.
Load factors for these leisure destinations have been in the very healthy range of 80% – 90% with more frequencies and routes to be added soon in line with consistently strong forward bookings.
As vaccination rates across the globe continue to rise, AirAsia anticipates interstate leisure air travel will gradually continue to reopen first, potentially in coming weeks. It’s also expected that international travel could resume within the next few months, especially in the Asean region where inoculation rates are accelerating. The airline has assured travellers it is ready to welcome all guests with the highest safety standards.
