Head to Sydney for Vivid 29017

LIGHTS, CAMERA, VIVID!  The 2017 Sydney showcase of the world’s largest festival of light, music and ideas is on again, starting 26th May. You’ll probably want to stay more than overnight to enjoy the festival, which features nearly two hundred light displays spread throughout the city. You’ll have more than two hundred chances to dance, sing or chill to local sounds over the four weeks of Vivid and more than three hundred idea sharing forums to choose from.

If the activities aren’t really your ‘thing’, perhaps you’d prefer to just wander and enjoy the famed Vivid Light Walk which starts on Alfred Street, behind Circular Quay. The walk takes you past many spectacular light art installations and large-scale illuminations as it heads along Sydney’s water front. This walk itself would be suitable for someone in a wheelchair, although there are exploring opportunities for the more agile along the way.

If you’re up to doing the full walk, the full itinerary  will allow you to plan your walk.

It’s a great starting point and an easy way to experience a little bit of everything the festival has to offer. Check out the full walk itinerary here. For all that’s on at VIVID, visit their website.

You can fly to Sydney from Wellcamp Airport with Qantaslink.

Getting to Wellcamp Airport will be easier soon

To drive to Wellcamp Airport at the time of writing, you need to travel either through Toowoomba or cut off the Warrego Highway at Charlton. You’ll drive through country roads to reach the Toowoomba-Cecil Plains road. The Toowoomba-Cecil Plains Rd will be more directly affected by on-going roadworks as work progresses on the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing.

This major road project is expected to be ready during 2018. Completion of the road will mean that it will be easier for travellers from the western Darling Downs, Lockyer Valley and south of the airport to reach Wellcamp.

As the roadwork may cause some delays, travellers are advised to check the Queensland Traffic website for any updates.

You can keep up with the ongoing development of the project on the Project website.
