Want to venture into the restaurant business, or already have one, but want a change of focus? Here’s your chance. A Santan franchise may be just what you’re looking for. Santan, AirAsia’s inflight food brand, broke new ground in December 2019 as the world’s first restaurant brand offering inflight food on the ground. Their flagship outlet in Mid Valley Megamall was the venue for the presentation of the official franchise registration certificate on 29th September.

The franchise registration certificate, issued by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, allows Santan to offer franchisee opportunities to interested parties. Santan aims to roll out 20 new restaurants across the Klang Valley in coming months, with the first franchise outlet scheduled to open at SOGO Kuala Lumpur on 8th October 2020. Upcoming locations in the works are located in AEON Shah Alam, PKNS Shah Alam and NU Sentral Kuala Lumpur later in October.

In November, 163 Mont Kiara, Wangsa Walk and Wisma Tune should be on board, with IOI City Mall and Sunway Putra Mall in December. The opening of franchising opportunities supports the government’s ‘Buy Malaysian Products Campaign’ aimed at promoting local products. In addition, job opportunities will be available for kitchen assistants, front-counter staff and restaurant management.

Catherine Goh, General Manager of Santan Restaurant said Santan is currently focusing on the expansion within Klang Valley to create brand awareness and as a springboard for Santan to spread our network across Malaysia.

…. By next year, we are confident that the number of restaurants would hit the 100-mark with the first outlet in East Malaysia targeted to open in the first quarter of 2021.

While Malaysia is the initial focus for the Santan franchise, the company plans to be the first truly Asean fast food chain. So watch out for openings in Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines. Entrepreneurs interested in owning and operating a Santan franchise can contact [email protected].

Santan Food

You can pick up your favourite locally made and sourced Malaysian snacks, coffee, tea and other items at the Santan flagship outlet in Mid Valley Megamall. Santan Food was set up to promote and support the best of Malaysian products. They have more than food items on offer. Santan has also partnered with local lifestyle artisan, Bingka to produce handmade merchandise featuring themes derived from its iconic ‘Pak Nasser’s Nasi Lemak’ that is uniquely Santan. Made by the local communities, the merchandise is sold at all Santan outlets and online at santan.com.my from 8th October 2020.
