Beginning April 9, 2018, Malaysia Airlines will be moving its Jakarta operations to terminal 3 at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK). Until then, flights will continue to operate from Terminal 2. MH 726 to Kuala Lumpur is the first scheduled departure from Terminal at 4.25am on 9 April. Check-in counters for MH are located at C24-C26 with flights departing from gates 1-4 at Pier 1.
Terminal 3 opened in August 2016 with the capacity to serve an additional 25 million passengers per year. Air traffic at Jakarta has grown rapidly in recent years, seeing the emergence of new terminals at airports in the region. With this terminal expansion, Jakarta will be able to handle an additional 40 aircraft. It is anticipated that all international flights at SHIA will operate from Terminal 3 by 31 July 2018.
Connecting to Jakarta Terminals 1 and 2
The move follows Garuda Indonesia, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Vietnam Airlines, Korean Airlines, Xiamen Air, China Airlines, China Southern, AirAsia and Korean Air. Qantas and Jetstar will move on 11th May 2018. If you are connecting to or from any other airlines, free transportation is available. A shuttle bus is available, however the Skytrain (also free) might be more convenient. The Skytrain takes between 5 and 7 minutes to get between terminals, operating every 15 minutes from 4.25AM to 12:10AM. It also stops at SHIA railway station for connections to the city.
