Resumption of full KLIA Ekspres & KLIA Transit Services, operated by is now in place between KL Sentral and KLIA/klia2, the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Service was reduced when passenger traffic dropped during the border closures of 2020 to early 2022, but as air travel needs increase, passenger load has increased.
Normal schedule to KLIA resumes
Air travellers will once again enjoy a non-stop 28-minute ride between KL Sentral and KLIA or 33 minutes to klia2. This maintains KLIA Ekspres as the fastest airport transfer between the airport and Kuala Lumpur city.
ERL ran combined train services following the drop in passenger ridership due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but with the resumption of the dedicated services, the KLIA Ekspres will run every 20 minutes during morning and evening peak hours. The KLIA Transit frequency has also been revised to run every 15 minutes during weekday peak hours, with peak hours extended to 8 pm for the convenience of commuters. Thus, during peak hours, there will be a total of 7 train services running every hour. Both services will run at 30-minute intervals during off-peak. At KL Sentral, the KLIA Ekspres train departure point has reverted to the Departure Hall platform, located on the opposite side of the KL Sentral Concourse. It’s advisable to check the train schedule and plan your journey ahead to minimise waiting time, as well as ensure sufficient time to make your flights. You can also catch the train easily between the two Terminals, KLIA and klia2. The cost is RM2 each way and you can catch either the KLIA Ekspres or Transit service as they share a platform.
