Wellcamp Airport (officially known as Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport) will raise its number of weekly services to seventy-four, with the start of direct flights from Toowoomba to Townsville by the end of November 2016.
Direct return flights will begin on 28th November, operated by Airnorth every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, using the airlines Embraer ERJ-170LR (ERJ-170-100 LR) jets.
The airport, just west of Toowoomba on the Eastern Darling Downs in Queensland, is close to both large farming and industrial areas as such, it’s well positioned to offer a growing number passenger and cargo services to locals.
As the service will run as a Qantas codeshare flight, Qantas Frequent Flyers can earn Qantas frequent flyer points. In addition, convenient onward connections to Darwin and international connections to locations including Bali, Singapore and Malaysia will expand possibilities for travellers from the region wishing to avoid the long drive to Brisbane or the Gold Coast.
Bookings are already open from the Airnorth website starting from around AUD140 one-way and include all taxes, fees and charges. Credit card fees apply.
Flight TL182 will leave from Townsville at 10.30am for arrival in Toowoomba at 12:05pm. The first flight out on 28th November is scheduled to take off from Wellcamp as Flight TL183 at 2.05pm, arriving in Townsville at 3.55pm. The normal scheduled time of departure from Toowoomba / Wellcamp Airport is 12.35pm, to arrive in Townsville at 2.25pm.
