Covid-19 tests now cheaper at klia2

Covid-19 tests

Despite the reopening of Malaysia’s international borders on 1st April 2022, Covid-19 tests are still required for arriving travellers. These tests are ‘user-pay’ and add to the cost of travelling, especially for those doing so on a tight budget. To help mitigate the pocket-pain, AirAsia Aviation Group Limited (AAAGL) has announced a partnership with Century Medical Centre (CMC) Medijaya, supported by PATHLAB, to enhance Covid-19 screening services at klia2 Gateway.

The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed today at AirAsia RedQ by Riad Asmat, AirAsia Malaysia CEO and Marcus Kam, Group President and CEO of CMC Medijaya and PATHLAB.

Covid-19 tests: Arrival & Departure

Medijaya’s new dedicated testing centre at Gateway will provide a streamlined and hassle-free testing procedure offering Covid-19 tests. The process will be integrated with airline protocols to include

  • taking advance bookings
  • prioritising online payments
  • delivering efficient results

AirAsia will support Medijaya to promote awareness of the new facilities offering a more seamless experience for guests departing and arriving through Gateway.

Arriving passengers

  • Medijaya’s RTK test service at Gateway will be priced at RM60 for AirAsia passengers.
  • Testing will be available from 17th April 2022 and is available for advance booking through the Medijaya website.
  • AirAsia passengers may also present their boarding passes at the Gateway Medijaya health facility to enjoy these exclusive benefits.

The swab process is expected to take less than 5 minutes, with results uploaded to MySejahtera within 30 minutes following the swab. Travellers will also receive a soft copy of the test results through email within 24 hours. This is required as part of the new entry conditions into Malaysia.

Apart from AirAsia and AirAsia X, Jetstar, Scoot, IndiGo and CebuPacific also use klia2. We have sought clarification from AirAsia to confirm if this testing facility will also be open to arriving passengers on other airlines.

Departing passengers

  • For departing passengers, RT-PCR pre-departure test will be available at RM120 for AirAsia guests.
  • AirAsia guests may walk-in to any Medijaya testing facility in Malaysia from 14th April 2022.
  • Travellers may also make advance purchases at the Medijaya health facility at Gateway, to redeem at any Medijaya testing facilities in Malaysia.

Testing facilities are currently available at

  • Medijaya Kelana Jaya
  • Medijaya Bayu Tinggi (Klang)
  • Medijaya Pandan Indah (KL)
  • Medijaya Johor Bahru
