AirAsia & AirAsia X have come out tops at the CSR Malaysia Awards 2017, taking the Company of the Year Award in the Airline Category. AirAsia X took the title for its championing of community projects, while AirAsia’s award came for its #AirAsiaMAKNA campaign initiative.
AirAsia’s Director of Government Relations Zamani Rafique, represented the company at the ceremony held in Kuala Lumpur recently. The Awards celebrate outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts by Malaysian corporations.
The CSR Awards Malaysia are supported by Malaysia’s Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development. With a special focus on the promotion of sustainable economies they help marginalised communities and preserve heritage through environmental efforts.
AirAsia & AirAsia X – Community projects
Long-haul carrier AirAsia X has worked with a number of underprivileged communities, especially children and the elderly during local festivals. AirAsia launched the #AsiaAsiaMAKNA campaign in 2015 and has since raised more than RM650,000 for the National Cancer Council Malaysia (MAKNA) through a series of fundraising efforts.
