In addition to Johor Bahru – Ipoh services, the airline also began direct flights from Johor Bahru to Alor Setar today. These two additional destinations offer more choices for business and leisure travellers.
Ipoh is AirAsia Malaysia’s 17th domestic destination and the 16th route from the Johor Bahru hub. In addition to Ipoh, AirAsia also flies from Johor Bahru to
- Ho Chi Minh City
- Kuala Lumpur
- Kuala Terengganu
- Kota Kinabalu
- Alor Setar.
The opening up of this new route is timely as state government is setting up Perak Tourism Action Council (PTAC). The masterplan will include the rebranding of the state’s tourism, including Ipoh, to attract more domestic and foreign visitors to the state. AirAsia’s four times weekly direct services will help boost visitor number to the state and contribute significantly to the state’s economy.
….. The state government is truly excited to welcome new visitors to Perak and I would like to applaud AirAsia for launching the route. …….. We have full confidence in AirAsia to play its part as our strategic partner to further promote Perak. Menteri Besar of Perak, YAB Ahmad Faizal
AirAsia has been aggressively expanding their network from Johor Bahru and there are many things for the visitor to see and do in and around Ipoh.
….. We are delighted to launch direct services to Ipoh, a long-anticipated addition to our route network. The launch of this new service is a testament to our continuous effort to extend our reach domestically. AirAsia Malaysia CEO Riad Asmat
