Things to do in Kunming

Apart from the pleasant year round weather, there’s lots to see and do in and around the city. Easy day trips can be made to see the limestone formations in Shilin (Stone Forest), a UNESCO World Heritage site and the Jiu Xiang Cave. You can visit the Lufeng Dinosaur Museum in Chuxiong to see hundreds of dinosaurs in the excavations, or ride the cable car up to Western Hill Dragon Gate to touch the ‘lucky’ arch. Morning is a great time to join the locals for exercise in the many parks including Green Lake Park. This park is famous for its thousands of seagulls despite being far inland.
