In celebrating AirAsia X’s Maiden Flight to Chongqing, China on 13th February 2015, the airline has added a sixth Chinese destination after Hangzhou, Chengdu, Beijing, Shanghai and Xi’An.
The four times weekly flight which departs Kuala Lumpur every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 6pm will arrive in Chongqing’s Jiangbei International Airport at 10.20pm. The return flight leaves the same day at 11.55pm, arriving back in Kuala Lumpur (KLIA2) at 4.15am the next day. AirAsia X will be the only airline offering direct flights between the two cities.
To celebrate the inaugural flight, AirAsia X is offering a promotional all-in, one-way Economy fare from Kuala Lumpur to Chongqing starting from MYR329 (CNY588). Also available are AirAsia X business class flatbed seats from all-in one-way fares starting from MYR999 (CNY1,788). The fares are available for online bookings from now until 22nd February 2015 for travel between 23rd February and 30th June 2015.
In seeing off the inaugural flight this morning, Benyamin Ismail, acting Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia X said, “We are proud to be the first and only airline to offer direct service from Kuala Lumpur to Chongqing, the gateway to the Yangtze River. AirAsia X carried a total of more than 3.6 million guests to date into/from various points in China, with an average passenger load of 82% and as a group we carried a total of more than 12.3 million guests. The addition of this latest route will enable us to further strengthen our network into China and boost passenger traffic growth as we link AirAsia’s robust network across ASEAN to China.”
He added “We will continue our strategy of dominating our core markets in North Asian, especially China. This is made possible with the continuous support rendered by China’s Airport authorities, regulators and relevant authorities”.
The attractions of Chongqing
Chongqing is one of five national central cities in China after Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Tianjin and offers many stunning attractions to visitors.
