oneworld unveils Explorer round-the-world fare

by on December 3, 2016

oneworld® is now offering an additional option for those who want travel round the world with a oneworld Explorer fare, but don’t want to visit the northern hemisphere. This new version is exclusively for travel in the southern hemisphere and has been made possible by the launch of services by oneworld partner LATAM Airlines between Brazil’s Sao Paulo and South Africa’s Johannesburg. This new route makes the circumnavigation of the globe south of the equator possible on oneworld member airlines for the first time.

From Johannesburg, Explorers can use Qantas, which links Johannesburg with Sydney, feeding into its extensive Australasian network. As both LATAM and Qantas link Sydney with Santiago, you can also add in the option of a stop in New Zealand before flying on to explore LATAM’s wide South American route network from Santiago.

The new offering also includes flights on a South West Pacific–Africa-South America-South West Pacific routing and may be travelled by flying in a westwards or eastwards direction, with flights included within each continent.  oneworld is the only airline alliance which can offer this type of package, with Qantas as the sole Australia based member airline in the grouping.

oneworld Explorer Pricing

oneworld Explorer’s price is based on the number of continents you choose to visit, rather than the distance you fly, for greater ease of planning and pricing.  This makes organising your dream trip easier and more flexible.

Starting prices of the new three-continent version of oneworld Explorer (excluding taxes and other charges), for travel starting in:

  • Australia and the South West Pacific – AUD 3,299 Economy, AUD 10,499 Business Class.
  • South Africa – ZAR 21,560 Economy, ZAR 80,460 Business Class.
  • South America, excluding Brazil – USD 3,200 Economy, USD 8,600 Business Class.
  • Brazil – USD 3,300 Economy, USD 8,100 Business Class.

With alliance member airlines serving nearly seventy destinations in Australia and the South West Pacific, around a hundred and twenty in South America and almost fifty in Africa you’ll be spoilt for choice. On a worldwide level, alliance members serve more than a thousand destinations in over a hundred and fifty countries.

oneworld Explorer’s new three-continent version is available for sale from select countries in the southern hemisphere – including Australia, Brazil, Chile, South Africa and New Zealand.
