Since taking out the Airline of the Year in Passenger category in September 2015 at the KLIA Awards 2014, Malindo Air has been busy adding to its fleet and extending its network. With Amritsar, India added in October 2015 and the first flight to Perth, Australia due to take off on 19th November, the airline requires more aircraft.
To fill the need for more planes to cover their expanding network, Malindo Air welcomed its 15th Boeing 737 aircraft at Subang Skypark on 28th November after taking delivery a few days ago in Seattle, USA. This Boeing 737-800 will join 8 others already in the stable and is due to be joined by a 10th in November. This is in addition to the 6 Boeing 737-900ER also in use. This will bring the total for both variants to 16 aircraft.
The new aircraft will be used to help the airline increase frequency on popular routes and further expand its international network, with announcements due on new routes to Australia, China, and further points of Asia.
Malindo Air also flies 11 ATR 42/72 turboprop aircraft on short routes out of Subang Skypark, Selangor. All the Boeing aircraft are used on regional flights out of KLIA2 in Sepang, Selangor.
