Malaysia Airlines trials Satay in Economy, expands food and IFE options

Passengers flying in Malaysia Airlines Economy until the end of January 2020 will be lucky participants in trials for new services. These trials cover three new initiatives offering passengers greater flexibility, wider choices and increased comfort throughout their journey.

Economy meal add-ons, including Satay

The three initiatives include two that will be available until 31st January 2020. Economy Class Meal Add-on and Buy On-board services will be available on a three-month trial phase on selected routes.

Signature Satay for Economy Class passengers

In response to passenger requests, the Economy Class Meal Add-on offers passengers the opportunity to enjoy the luxury and enjoyment normally reserved for premium Business Class passengers. Until 31st January 2020, passengers can enjoy Malaysia Airlines’ famous Chicken Satay with their existing complimentary meals on selected routes.

This service will be available for customers travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne, Sydney, and London during the three-month trial. Passengers can pre-purchase the satay option during the online booking process or up to 72 hours before departure.

Satay is a signature dish that Business and First class passengers have enjoyed for many years on MH routes out of Kuala Lumpur. Don’t miss this opportunity to try the signature dish – this grilled chicken and peanut sauce delicacy is really very good!

New light snack options

Malaysia Airlines Economy passengers also have three months to trial new light snacking options on-board. In conjunction with the Temptations in-flight sales platform, passengers can purchase snacks on-board in addition to their complimentary meal and refreshments.

Snacks on offer include:

  • Savoury items
    • assorted flavors of Mini Pringles
    • Maggi Hot Cups
    • Amazin’ Graze granolas
  • Sweet snacks
    • KitKat
    • M&Ms
    • Chipsmore
    • Oreo
    • Eureka
  • as well as drinks
    • Nescafe and
    • coconut water

This service is available for passengers travelling by the end of January, from Kuala Lumpur to:

  • Incheon
  • Sydney
  • Melbourne
  • Hong Kong
  • Shanghai
  • Beijing

In-flight entertainment

In-flight entertainment (IFE) will also see a boost, showcasing the best Malaysian cinema has to offer in the ‘Best of Malaysia’ series. This initiative will support many successful local productions and bring them to a wider audience.

    • the true story of Malaysian commandos who took on Somalian pirates during a daring rescue mission
  • timeless classics from national icon P. Ramlee, as part of the ‘P. Ramlee Film Festival’, including his most loved movies including
