George Town Festival (GTF) is a month-long festival of the arts that has become a proudly Penang institution. Starting as a series of arts and cultural events in celebration of George Town’s listing as a UNESCO Heritage Site in 2008, GTF celebrated its inaugural festival in 2010.
Under the leadership of Festival Director, Joe Sidek, GTF aims to celebrate the living heritage of the city by inviting the best of international and local talent to use George Town as a showcase for the festival month.
GTF 2016 will run 29 July – 28 August. GTF is a project by Joe Sidek Products Sdn. Bhd.
While most of the events in GTF 2015 were held between Friday and Sunday, there were lots of on-going exhibitions and smaller happenings. We went for a quick look and are aiming to stay longer for GTF2016.
