Deals and inspiration on offer at 2017 Travel Expo Australia

February 18, 20172 minute read

The Flight Centre group Travel Expo 2017 is on right now and about halfway through its tour of 13 cities in Australia. The expo is running this weekend in Brisbane, Adelaide and Newcastle, so there’s no time to lose if you’re after a bargain. Further expos are scheduled for Townsville (26 Feb), the Gold Coast (5 Mar) and Darwin (5 Mar).

A quick perusal of the Brisbane fair shows a good presence from airlines that serve the local market both directly and indirectly. An interesting presence this year is Malindo Air, who are looking to boost their Australian presence. The team were happy to share that they will be launching flights from Brisbane to Kuala Lumpur via Bali “in a couple of months”. Also represented were tour companies, cruise lines and other services such as visa application services and travel insurance.

Deals and prizes on offer

We noticed some great deals to be had, including under-30 flights to LA on Virgin Australia for $899. Also available are expo specials on Singapore Airlines to Asia from $639, Europe from $1,127 and and discounts on travel insurance. AirAsia X is advertising expo specials to Kuala Lumpur from $375 in economy and $961 in premium flatbed (both return ex Gold Coast).

Heaps of prizes are on offer if you scan your registration code at designated “Scan and Win” points. Prizes range from holidays at Club Med Bali to $500 gift cards from various travel and tour providers. Even grander prizes are up for grabs if you book or place a deposit with many airlines and travel companies.

You’ll also find more information about locations and exhibitors on the Travel Expo website. Entry is free and if you’re planning to visit, be sure to pre-register online. Pre-registration will save having to fill out your details at the door and gets you express entry. Simply produce your emailed ticket on your smartphone and you’ll be scanned in quickly and with minimal queuing.
