Hari Raya festival travellers will be setting out soon for their journey ‘balik kampung’. Not only those returning home to celebrate will be flying, but many others enjoying the festival break across Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia in particular. Hari Raya falls on 5th June in 2019, and with 734 AirAsia Malaysia and 60 AirAsia X Malaysia flights departing from various Malaysian hubs, the airports will be busy.

The airline has put on 437 extra flights to cope with the demand and an average 50,000 guests are expected to depart from Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) each day over the festive period.

As always, remember the ‘smooth holiday’ travel advice:

  • check-in online
  • make sure you stick to the weight allowance you’ve selected
  • arrive early at the airport (at least 3 hrs is advisable)
