The opening of the Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 2 in early 2018 offers seamless travel between Brisbane and Broadbeach. The long awaited Airtrain and tram service will intersect at Helensvale station, giving passengers an easy trip between Brisbane Airport and the beach. The service is operated in a tie-up between Airtrain and G:link.
However, passengers flying in or out of the Gold Coast Airport will be continue to be disappointed. The Airtrain and tram service is not connected to this airport and the only link will still be by bus from Varsity Lakes.
Tickets for Airtrain and tram service
Once the service is available, travellers can use either a go card or a ticket purchased at the station or online at airtrain.com.au. Airtrain fares apply for passengers travelling to or from Brisbane Airport.
It is also expected that Accommodation providers will sell discounted ticketbooks for Airtrain travel.
It’s useful to note the service hours: 7am – 7pm, Monday – Friday at 7.5 minute intervals.
