AirAsia X, an affiliate of the AirAsia Group, has joined IATA’s IOSA Registry on 16th April 2015 following the airline’s successful completion of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA). This is the benchmark for global safety management in airlines.
In announcing the registration as a significant milestone for the AirAsia Group, the Group CEO and Co-Founder Tony Fernandes said that work for the IOSA audit process began at the end of 2012 and AirAsia X is the first airline in the group to be registered. All the other airlines in the AirAsia group, AirAsia in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and India, as well as AirAsia X Thailand and AirAsia X Indonesia are also working through the preparation as part of the Group’s commitment to safety. Tan Sri Fernandes confirmed the Group commitment to a successful result for all following the completion of the audit process.
IATA’s Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) program is an internationally recognised and accepted evaluation system designed to access the operational management and control systems of an airline.
The IOSA Audit covers eight functional and operational areas of AirAsia X Berhad – Organisation and Management System, Flight Operations, Operational Control and Flight Dispatch, Aircraft Engineering & Maintenance, Cabin Operations, Ground Handling Operations, Cargo Operations and Security Management.
