AirAsia launches OURSHOP inflight e-marketplace

AirAsia travellers now have another option for shopping with the launch of the airline’s first inflight e-marketplace OURSHOP in Jakarta Airport T3. This is the result of a partnership between AirAsia and Plaza Bali Duty & Tax Free, Jakarta.

What is OURSHOP?

OURSHOP is the new shopping and services platform soft launched on 4th July 2018, across AirAsia’s network of over 130 destinations in 26 markets. The platform connects AirAsia’s passengers to a wide range of airport, high street and local specialist retailers at competitive prices. 

Consumers can expect:

  • a convenient shopping experience
  • cashless transactions
  • multiple delivery options (to be rolled out in phases) from
    • airport (Starting with Jakarta T3)
    • onboard 
    • downtown in-store collection
    • home delivery

BIG Loyalty members can:

  • earn and redeem AirAsia Big loyalty points each time they shop on OURSHOP
  • use points earned to transact on all AirAsia platforms

Travel more, buy more, earn more points!

Shoppers can also shop with BigPay, across various currencies without forex disadvantages and expensive credit card fees.

Only for AirAsia passengers?

Duty free purchases may be made online whether flying on any AirAsia or non-AirAsia flights. Airport pickup and onboard delivery are currently only available at selected airports and certain flights. These product and delivery options will be expanded over the next few months.

AirAsia Group CEO and AirAsia X Co-Group CEO Tony Fernandes noted that AirAsia was the first airline to sell tickets online in it’s network area.

Future directions

In the short term, the plan is to position OURSHOP as the ultimate e-commerce marketplace, offering:

  • best product selections and service to shoppers
  • generating online sales for retailers
    • directing footfall to the physical stores,
    • providing retailers a further option to upsell to customers.

Retailers with OURSHOP will also have the added benefit of access to AirAsia’s guests insights, traveler’s departing and arrival destinations, enabling more precise marketing and delivery of products.

Long term, the plan is for this to become a standalone product, available to other airlines, enabling a new way of travel shopping across all geographies and travel sectors.
