AirAsia Captains Lim Khoy Hing and Monika Anggreini were in the limelight on Saturday 7th September as their flying experiences hit the bookshelves. Their experiences, in Captain Lim Khoy Hing’s ‘Sky Tales: More Insights from a Life in the Skies‘, and Captain Monika Anggreini’s ‘Iron Bird Monika’ were launched during the on-going travel 3Sixty°’s tenth year anniversary carnival at Fahrenheit88, Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.
AirAsia Captains fly high
Captain Lim began flying with AirAsia Group in 2006, retiring in 2011. He remains with the AirAsia Group as a flight simulator instructor with AirAsia X. His regular contributes to the Pilot Perspective column in the travel 3Sixty° in-flight magazine continue to be popular.
This is Captain Lim’s second book. His first, ‘Life in the Skies: Everything You Want To Know About Flying’ was a bestseller in 2013. The new book brings readers a new collection of tips, anecdotes and insights gleaned from his 25,500 flying hours. And with over 80 destinations, you can be sure there are lots of interesting and useful snippets in the book.

Captain Monika started her career as a pilot with Indonesia AirAsia in 2005 and became a captain for the airline in 2014. This made her Indonesia AirAsia’s first female pilot. Captain Monika’s book is an English translation of her 2016 release. ‘Burung Besi Monika: Kisah Pilot Perempuan Dengan Semangat Tiga Kali Lipat Pilot Pria’ follows Captain Monika’s personal journey. It’s a tale of courage and willpower that follows her path to becoming a flight captain.

Both the AirAsia Captains were at the launch with AirAsia Berhad Executive Chairman, Kamarudin Meranun and Group CEO Tony Fernandes. Benyamin Ismail, AirAsia X CEO was also present.
