AirAsia increases flights to Colombo to two daily

Kuala Lumpur-Colombo has been one of AirAsia’s most popular routes since it first started operating in 2009. Therefore, it’s no surprise that flights to Colombo have been increased to two services daily starting 17th July 2023. This is part of AirAsia’s growth strategy in South Asia.

Flights to Colombo – what’s to enjoy there?

World renowned for its fresh seafood and artistic scenery, Colombo is a tourist haven for globe-trotters and foodies alike. With the increased daily frequency, travellers have more flexibility when planning their direct trips to this must-visit destination between Colombo and Kuala Lumpur.

The additional flight frequency was celebrated with a special send-off on the 17th July, when guests onboard Flight AK45 to Colombo were handed special AirAsia’s merchandise as they boarded their flight. The travellers were seen off by H.E. Air Chief Marshal Sumangala Dias, Sri Lanka’ High Commissioner to Malaysia, Bo Lingam, AirAsia Aviation Group Limited Group CEO and Riad Asmat, AirAsia Malaysia CEO.

AirAsia Malaysia CEO, Riad Asmat noted the increased demand for seats, following the resumption of the Colombo route in April 2022. He added that Colombo is a captivating city which holds immense appeal for both leisure and business travellers.
