AirAsia X Beijing flights are back, continuing the airline’s return to their China network. The inaugural flight flew out from Kuala Lumpur’s International Airport on the evening of 30th March 2023 landing at Beijing Daxing International Airport at 1:05am to a warm welcome. This twice weekly service joins their flights to Shanghai and Hangzhou, with more cities ‘on the way’.

The service resumption is expected to stimulate business travel and tourism in both directions with the expected surge in demand for international travel to China following the decision to begin reissuing tourist visas. When waving off the inaugural flight, AirAsia X Malaysia CEO, Benyamin Ismail noted that the airline’s service resumption to Beijing reflects their commitment to boosting their network in China, historically always been one of our biggest and most popular markets.
He added:
…. We are also looking at ramping up the frequency to four weekly flights starting 1st June 2023 to meet growing forecast demand, further boosting exchanges between the world’s second largest economy and Asean, and the region’s tourism recovery.
In addition to AirAsia X Beijing flights, he also flagged further AAX expansion in China on the horizon with a plan to relaunch more routes. Also on the cards are the introduction of more unique, less travelled destinations in China in the near future.
