With strong demand encouraging QantasLink to add additional flights between Sydney and Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport, passengers will have access to an extra 300 seats per week. Flights start at the end of June 2015.
This regional airport located just to the west of Toowoomba on the edge of the Darling Downs in southern Queensland, makes it much easier for travellers wishing to visit this region as they can bypass Brisbane. In addition they’ll save a drive up the busy Warrego Highway to Toowoomba which adds another hour and a half, at least, to the journey. It’s also a much quicker route to reach towns further west as as Oakey, Jondaryan and Dalby are all along the continuation of the Warrego Highway leading North West.
Airport management have acknowledged the huge confidence boost for the region and are in negotiation with QantasLink to develop other possible routes.
As the airport grows it is hoped that with more competition, airfares may come down and apart from the time saving aspect, passengers will reduce the overall cost of reaching this region.
Oh, and if you’re wondering what you could possibly find to do in an Australian Country town if you’re not working, we have some ideas for you!
