Qatar Airways to fly to Penang direct from Doha

Travellers will be able to fly to Penang direct from Doha via Qatar Airways, beginning 6th February 2018. The new service was announced at a press conference in Penang on 1st November 2017, by  Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.

Penang can now open its doors to welcome more international and Middle Eastern travellers which is an important market. This also gives travellers from Penang more global connectivity as they can now go to Europe or the Middle East without having to transit to KL or Thailand.  Lim Guan Eng

Penang direct from Doha – save time

Travellers will save at least 3 hours using this twice weekly flight rather than connecting via Kuala Lumpur.

Qatar Airways will use a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner on the route, with QR851 PEN/ DOH taking 7hrs 50 mins to Hamad International Airport. In the other direction, the time saving is even more noticeable, with a saving of over 4 hours. QR850 completes the trip in 7 hours.

The time in Penang is 5 hours ahead of the time in Doha (GMT+3).
