Getting Started:

  • Download the App:
    • Available for free on both iPhone and Android.
  • Launch the App:
    • Open the app on your device.
  • Scan Your Passport:
    • Use your phone’s camera to scan your passport.
  • Enter Contact Number:
    • Provide your contact number.
  • Verify Using Facial Recognition:
    • Complete the verification process with facial recognition.
  • Set a 4-Digit PIN:
    • Create a secure 4-digit PIN for the app.

Using MyBorderPass:

  • New Lanes at KLIA:
    • There are 20 brand new lanes at KLIA Terminal 1 and another 20 at Terminal 2.
  • Quick Clearance:
    • Enjoy clearance in less than 10 seconds.

Is It Compulsory?

  • Optional Use:
    • MyBorderPass is optional, autogates and counters are still available.
  • Alternative Options:
    • If you don’t have a phone, you can still use autogates or the manual counters.
  • Travelling with Children:
    • If you’re travelling with children, you must use the immigration counters.
  • For PR and Long-Term Pass Holders:
    • Use the Malaysian autogates.
  • Other Nationalities:

Security and Trial Period:

  • Data Protection:
    • The Immigration Department assures travellers that personal data is fully protected with top-level security measures and user data security is safeguarded under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (Act 709), to prevent data theft.
  • Streamlined Checks:
    • This initiative aims to streamline immigration checks at 40 dedicated lanes at KLIA Terminals 1 and 2.
  • Shorter Clearance Time:
    • The QR code system significantly shortens immigration clearance time to just five to seven seconds, compared to the 15 to 25 seconds required by conventional automatic gates.
  • Trial Period:
    • Starting 1st January 2025, a trial period for the use of QR codes specifically for Malaysians has been announced by Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
