Malaysian hybrid airline Malindo Air has taken out the award for Airline of the Year (Passenger) 2014 at the KLIA Awards held on 19th September 2015. The growing airline has two main hubs – Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) and the KL downtown city airport Subang Skypark in Selangor.
Malindo flies their 11 ATR72-600 out of Subang Skypark to mostly domestic destinations, catering for the commuter needs of the peninsular airline traffic, while their 13 Boeing 737NG are used for longer trips to east Malaysia and other South-East and South Asian destinations. Currently flying to 40 routes within the region, the carrier plans to operate new routes to southern China and Australia by end-year 2015 with the addition to the fleet of three more B737NGs before the end of the year.
