AirAsia will add a new route from Penang direct to Bali on 20th October 2022. This will help the State welcome more regional tourists this year as travel demand picks up.

The twice-weekly flights bring AirAsia Malaysia’s frequency into Penang to 156 services weekly. This makes Penang AirAsia’s second largest international hub in Malaysia after Kuala Lumpur with most flight frequencies.

The new route was announced at an event in Penang, graced by His Excellency Bambang Suharto, the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Penang along with officials from tourism bodies, AirAsia and the Penang government.
Riad Asmat, CEO of AirAsia Malaysia says the airline offers 92 city pairings via their Fly-Thru service to Penang. With this new direct route, they look forward to flying more travellers to the Pearl of the Orient in the future. He added:

This is the first direct route from Bali to Penang and the Penang government looks forward to leveraging this opportunity to introduce Penang both to those living in Bali and regional tourists visiting the island.
She also made reference to the “7 World Wonders of Penang” which was announced recently adding:
