Alaska Airlines joins oneworld

Alaska Airlines joins oneworld airline grouping in April 2021 with a confirmation of its climate goals. The announcement, released in Seattle on 21st April, 2021 commits the airline to reduce the company’s carbon emissions to net-zero by 2040. 

With oneworld being the first global airline alliance to commit to a net zero emissions target, Alaska Airlines’ commitment to sustainability and reducing carbon emissions aligns with oneworld’s stated values, objectives and goals. The alliance will continue to collaborate closely with Alaska, member airlines and other stakeholders to deliver upon this important commitment.

oneworld is one of the largest international airline groupings, bringing together 14 world-class airlines. From 21st April 2021, the list includes

  • Alaska Airlines
  • American Airlines
  • British Airways
  • Cathay Pacific Airways
  • Finnair
  • Iberia
  • Japan Airlines
  • Malaysia Airlines
  • Qantas
  • Qatar Airways
  • Royal Air Maroc
  • Royal Jordanian
  • S7 Airlines
  • SriLankan Airlines

Fleshing out that number are more than 20 of their affiliates. Fiji Airways is a oneworld connect partner.
