It’s Awards season again, with AirAsia voted top Asian Low Cost airline for the fifth year in a row. Airline representatives collected the gong at the 2017 World Travel Awards Asia and Australasia.
Top Asian Low Cost airline – the contenders
With the number of low cost carriers in Asia growing rapidly, the competition is growing. Other airlines in contention this year included Air India Express, Firefly, GoAir, JetKonnect, JetStar Airways, Lucky Air, Nok Air, Scoot, SpiceJet and West Air.
The airline also took out the award for Asia’s Leading Low-Cost Airline Cabin Crew, against nine of the same contenders. Only Scoot wasn’t included in the list. AirAsia’s North Asia President Kathleen Tan accepted the award at a ceremony held at the Grand Kempinski Hotel in Shanghai, China on 4th June 2017.
AirAsia Co-Founder and Group CEO, Tony Fernandes paid tribute to his crew:
…. This award is a special win for us as it recognises our efforts to always do better. …. I also want to say a big thanks to my amazing cabin crew. It’s so cool to get another cabin crew award and it’s all because of them. They are simply the best – special, warm and real. Tony Fernandes
