July 16, 20163 minute read

AirAsia Group celebrated their continuing Awards success at the 2016 Awards Skytrax World Airline Awards held recently during the Farnborough International Airshow by flying in, in a special Skytrax liveried AirAsia A320. The Annual Skytrax awards are considered to be the top awards in the Aviation industry and are based on worldwide customer surveys in a range of categories spanning regional and worldwide groupings as well as premium and low-cost carriers.

As the customers are the ones making the selections, based on over forty key performance indicators of an airline’s frontline products and services, those airlines offering highly innovative technology and service will score well. AirAsia took out its eighth straight win in the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline category. Although other airlines are also offering some of the same products, in many cases, AirAsia has proven to be the leader in introducing the technology.

AirAsia is Asia’s largest low-cost carrier, both by passengers carried and by size of the jet fleet. The AirAsia Group encompasses short-haul affiliates AirAsia Berhad (airline code AK), Indonesia AirAsia (QZ), Thai AirAsia (FD), Philippines AirAsia (Z2) and AirAsia India (I5), and long-haul affiliates AirAsia X (D7), Thai AirAsia X (XJ) and Indonesia AirAsia X (XT).

AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes and AirAsia Berhad CEO Aireen Omar were present to receive the awards, along with CEOs from AirAsia Group affiliates.

Passengers flying in the Premium cabin also enjoy priority check-in, boarding and baggage, with a 40kg baggage allowance and complimentary meals, a pillow and duvet.

AirAsia X came out sixth in the Low Cost Category and third overall in the Long Haul Low Cost Category.

….. AirAsia X is always improving on its cabin experience and these awards show that our premium service is not only the best but also as good as that of any full-service carrier. AirAsia X Group CEO Kamarudin Meranun
