KLIA Airport Fire & Rescue, Aircraft Disaster Exercise

Travellers to, from and within Malaysia can be assured that Malaysia’s Airport Fire & Rescue Services are well prepared. We had the opportunity to see this in action during the Covid Shutdowns, when Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) ran a one-off ‘Open House’ weekend which included a visit to the Fire & Rescue Services. Even though the runways were empty at the time, which is the only reason this special opportunity could happen, they were still in full training. And Malaysia Airports have advised that a full Aircraft Disaster Exercise will be carried out this Thursday morning, 16th July 2026. So if you’re needing to be somewhere near the area, you’ll need to plan accordingly.  Here is their Advisory as received:

ADVISORY: FULL-SCALE AIRCRAFT DISASTER EXERCISE AT R&R DENAI ALAM, DASH HIGHWAY

Malaysia Airports together with PROLINTAS and the Department of Information Malaysia (JaPEN), would like to advise the public that a Full-Scale Aircraft Disaster Exercise known as Latih Amal Ex Urban Falcon 2026 will be conducted at Rest and Relax Area (R&R) Denai Alam, Damansara – Shah Alam Elevated Expressway (DASH) on 16 July 2026, Thursday from 8:00am to 2pm.

This full scale exercise is part of the 2026 National Air Disaster Preparedness Program, themed “Integrasi Perkasa, Aspirasi Nusa” organised by Malaysia Airports in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA), the Selangor State Secretary and PROLINTAS-Dash.

The primary objective of conducting this air disaster full scale exercise is to evaluate and test the level of preparedness, coordination, and response in dealing with any emergency situation. Additionally, this program serves to test the responses of various relevant safety and emergency agencies.

Throughout the exercise, DASH Highway users and members of the public are advised to cooperate should they observe emergency vehicles, smoke, an aircraft replica, sirens, or simulation activities in the vicinity of the Denai Alam R&R area, as these are part of the exercise. Members of the public are also requested to comply with the instructions of personnel on site to ensure the smooth conduct of the exercise.

Malaysia Airports, PROLINTAS and JaPEN appreciate the cooperation of the public in ensuring the exercise is carried out safely and smoothly.
