Since ceasing their turboprop operations at Subang SkyPark in February, the Batik Air livery has only been seen at Kuala Lumpur International Airport where they fly from Terminal 1. A Batik Air first was achieved when they landed the first scheduled jet flight at Subang SkyPark (Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport) on 1st August 2024 relaunching their presence with their upgraded fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft.
Batik Air first since 2006
This event marks a historic moment as Subang SkyPark welcomes the return of the first narrow-body jets since the last scheduled jet services moved to the LCCT Sepang on 23rd March 2006. Batik Air is part of this transformation, replacing the previously used ATR service, which ended in February 2024, with a more advanced and comfortable option. Services will utilise their Boeing 737 aircraft with dual-class cabins offering both Economy and Business Class with more legroom, increased comfort, and improved efficiency.

Business Class one way fares start from RM369, and include meals, a minimum of 30kg baggage allowance and priority benefits. Economy one way fares are also available to Penang for travel up to 31st August 2024, starting from RM89.
Director General of Tourism Malaysia, Manoharan Periasamy, highlighted Subang SkyPark’s role as a pivotal city airport, expecting it to significantly boost intercity travel and attract more tourists.

Batik Air will initially fly three flights weekly from Subang SkyPark to Penang International Airport, increasing to daily services starting from 15th August 2024.
Selecting Penang as the inaugural destination reflects Batik Air’s roots. When the airline first began operations as Malindo Air at Subang in 2013, it had a modest fleet of just two ATR aircraft, initially offering flights to only two destinations: Penang and Kota Bharu.
Batik Air is eager to broaden its services from Subang SkyPark, with plans underway to add new destinations, including Kota Bharu, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching offering passengers a wider array of travel choices.
