Firefly expands jet services with direct Penang – Bangkok flights

Firefly’s direct Penang – Bangkok flights are set to expand the airline’s connectivity from its Penang hub beginning 3rd November 2023. Most of the Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) subsidiary’s flights utilise their fleet of ATR72 aircraft from their main hub in Subang Skypark, near Kuala Lumpur. They also run a number of jet services out of Kuala Lumpur International Airport KLIA.

The introduction of direct jet flights to Bangkok Don Mueang International Airport (DMK) out of their northern hub will enhance further the importance of Penang to the airline. It should also prove a winner for those who no longer have to travel via KLIA to reach Bangkok, a great time saver.

Tickets are now on sale for this new route so now’s the time to take advantage of special introductory fares available for purchase until 22nd October 2023, for travel between 3rd November 2023 and 30th March 2024. Economy Saver fares start from RM159 one-way from the airline’s website and come with 10kg check-in baggage allowance, 7kg cabin baggage allowance, and complimentary refreshments. 

Travellers can also upgrade to a Flex fare which starts from RM249 and comes with 30kg check-in baggage allowance, hot meals and unlimited flight changes.

The five times weekly flight will be operated by the airline’s retrofitted Boeing 737-800 aircraft. This is equipped with 189 seats in Economy Class and features ergonomic seats and legroom and personal device holder (i.e. no seat back screen, so save your preferred entertainment before you leave). USB type A and C power outlets are provided for passengers to charge their devices from the comfort of their seat.,
