Macao: direct from Johor Bahru with AirAsia

Macao is the latest destination added to AirAsia’s line-up from Johor Bahru with daily direct flights due to start  on 28th November 2017.  This makes Macao the airline’s sixteenth route from Johor Bahru and seventh international destinations from the Southern hub.

In connection with the launch, AirAsia has announced promotional all-in, one-way fares starting from MYR 129. Tickets are on sale until 1st October 2017 for travel between 28th November 2017 and 21st November 2018.

Bookings may be made online via airasia.com, mobile airAsia, or the AirAsia mobile app for iPhone and Android devices.

Why visit Macao?

UNESCO has identified the city as the ‘Historic Centre of Macao’. It’s a vibrant city which successfully blends traditional Chinese characteristics Portuguese culture. With twenty-five world historical heritage sites in a single city, you’re spoilt for choice.

  • Stroll through the European-style neoclassical buildings and browse the boutiques along Senado Square.
  • Take a trip to the Ruins of St. Paul’s, Macao’s most famous landmark. It was built in the 16th century as a college and cathedral.
  • To get the most spectacular bird’s eye view of the city, head to Macao Tower. This  338m national monument offers activities designed to challenge even the brave! Try the Tower Climb, Bungee Jump, Sky Jump, or view the city from the Skywalk.
  • Macao is well known as ‘The Vegas of Asia’, with a wide range of entertainment centres. Even if you’re not a gambler, check out the the lavish Venetian Macao or visit Macao Fisherman’s Wharf, with theme parks suitable for the whole family.
  • Foodies won’t want to miss enjoying the famous egg tarts (and buying a box or two to take home). Try Minchi, Macao’s national dish – minced beef, potatoes, onions, soy sauce, topped with black fungus and fried egg over rice. Or the salt fish cakes and Macanese-style prawns as you explore.

AirAsia currently operates 157 weekly flights one way into Johor Bahru’s Senai International Airport. Including Macao, AirAsia also flies six other international routes – Bangkok, Guangzhou, Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta, Surabaya and Kolkata.
