Why Wuhan?
Wuhan is the capital city of Hubei province and sits on the famed Yangtze river, making it a great location to start/end a Yangtze River cruise. As the most populous city in Central China, Wuhan is growing in importance as a natural hub for travellers to and from China and visitors to the area will have the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of historical and scenic activities.
The area has been witness to many historical events going back almost two thousand years, including a major war during the time of the Three Kingdoms and provides a home for the ancient Yellow Crane Tower, which has been destroyed and rebuilt multiple times over many centuries.
If scenery is your preference, the area has a diverse landscape, ranging from the Yandi Shennong Mountain, one of the best preserved primeval forest zones in China, to the Enshi Grand Canyon, a natural site offering the visitor unparalleled views and the Wuchang lake in the city itself. Foodies can search out the distinctive and tasty local Hubei cuisine.
