Australian MasterChef celebrity Poh Ling Yeow returned to her Malaysian roots recently to launch Malaysia Airlines new video series. The collaboration between the best-selling author and the airline takes you on a voyage of discovery around some of the most popular food and shopping haunts in Kuala Lumpur, the Malaysian Capital.
Satay, served in First and Business Class on board Malaysia’s medium and long haul international flights, is a favourite among locals and Poh takes viewers behind the scenes to see how Malaysia Airlines produces 26,000 satay sticks a day by hand in a special tour of their local catering headquarters.
The five part video series starts with ‘Departing Home’ as Poh leaves Australia. The video gives an overview of Malaysia and some basic information to get you started.
The second video, ‘In the Air’, showcases the inflight service and introduces a few more of the sights to see when you arrive. The Nyonya Chicken Curry with a roti style croissant is available on Malaysia Airlines flights departing Australia until 28 February 2015.
In the third video ‘Shopping & Luxury’, Poh takes you shopping to locations at the high end as well as more average positions on the budget line. There are many more Malls in Kuala Lumpur and nearby that also offer great bargains and you will certainly enjoy a foot massage or a spa treatment at the end of a busy day.
Serious ‘foodies will love the fourth video in the series as it takes you for a quick look at a small selection of the great food on offer in ‘Food Capital’. Kuala Lumpur, (called KL by locals) one of the great food destinations of South East Asia. You will also join Poh as she visits the kitchen where the Malaysian Airlines satay is prepared. Finally, you go home. If you’ve taken Poh’s advice about the shopping and the food, your bag and your stomach will be full. Poh spent the first nine years of her life in Kuala Lumpur and in her role as as Malaysia Airlines first-ever ambassador for the Asian region takes this opportunity to share different aspects of this vibrant city.
