All roads (and flights) lead to Sydney next week as visitors join Sydney-siders to celebrate the colours of Sydney at Vivid Sydney 2016, the world’s largest festival of light, music and ideas, which runs from 27th May to 18th June.
What’s on?
There’s something for just about everyone at Vivid Sydney 2016, from public events like the illuminations at Taronga Zoo, The Royal Botanic Garden and the Galeries, all new this year, to ticketed events in small venues. There’s music, dance, art and design, fashion, film and crafty things. Not to mention the robots! Whether you’re 5 or 50, 9 or 90, you’re sure to find something to enjoy. The full programme is available online so you can plan your visits and purchase tickets where they’re needed.
Getting there
Airlines, both domestic and around the region are offering special fares and packages for visitors keen to participate in this colourful festival.
AirAsiaGo is offering flight/accommodation/taxes and fees packages for under MYR2000 per person, depending on your selected dates and the type of accommodation you choose.
Malaysia Airlines will get you there and back from MYR1699, if you book before 27th May 2016, for travel between 24th May and 24th November 2016.

Jetstar has flights from various points around South East Asia, as well as their domestic services within Australia and other international locations. To get the best price, especially if you’re not sure of your dates, when you’ve pulled up the Deals page, and entered your dates, check the ‘lowest price’ option. That will give you a range of fares available over the few days before and after the date you’ve selected.

Virgin Australia’s Happy Hour every Thursday is just one of the deals they have on offer on a regular basis, though the best prices are usually a few weeks or months away. Visitor to are encouraged to download the free Vivid Sydney app from Google Play or the iTunes stores to find their way around the stunning precincts and events featured in the 2016 program.

Leave the car at home…..
Organisers are encouraging visitors coming to Vivid Sydney events to leave the car at home and use public transport, including 3,200 extra bus services and over 600 extra train services running in addition to the regular timetable services.
