Since taking flight in November 2007, Tigerair Australia has flown 24 million passengers – an incredible feat for a plucky player in an often-ruthless game. To celebrate the accomplishment, Tigerair is putting 8,000 seats on sale over three days beginning midday today (14 June). Light fares are on sale from $24 for travel between February and late March 2018. To book, check the Tigerair website at the following times:

  • Midday Thursday, 15 June for fares on another 7 routes for 24 hours
  • Midday Friday, 16 June for the remaining 8 routes on the Tigerair network for 24 hours

All-in-all, the entire network of 23 routes will be on sale over the next 3 days. You’ll have to be quick to book at midday each day though. Seats are strictly limited and are therefore likely to sell out.

24 millionth passenger strikes gold

On an otherwise unremarkable morning, Freya Appleford’s flight from Sydney to Melbourne ended with a welcome surprise. Being the lucky 24 millionth passenger, she was met at Melbourne Airport’s Terminal 4 by Tigerair’s Head of Communications Vanessa Regan and presented with a $500 travel voucher.

“This is an amazing surprise. I regularly fly with Tigerair as I’ve just started studying in Sydney and find they’re a really great and affordable option when I’m looking to head home and visit family and friends,” Ms Appleford (pictured above) said.

So, to all loyal Tigerair flyers, keep flying! Who knows what awaits the lucky 25 millionth passenger!
