Singapore Airlines showed off their new Premium Economy Class seats on 21st May when they announced the provision of a Premium Economy due to enter service in August.
The new seats, which will be fitted progressively on the airline’s 777-300ERs, A380s, and the first twenty A350s will give passengers a width of either 18.5 or 19.5 inches, depending on aircraft type, with an 8-inch recline and a seat pitch of 38 inches. The new class also promises an enhanced in-flight entertainment experience with active noise-cancelling headphones and a 13.3-inch full HD monitor, said to be the largest in its class.
With full leather finishing, calf-rest and foot-bar in every seat for passenger comfort and individual in-seat power supply with two USB ports, Singapore Airlines have clearly responded to travellers’ requests. The provision of a personal in-seat reading light, a cocktail table and more stowage space for personal items is also welcomed.
Premium Economy Class will enter commercial service on 9th August 2015 to Sydney, before being introduced on other routes including Beijing, Delhi, Hong Kong, Frankfurt, London, Mumbai, New York, Shanghai, Tokyo and Zurich.
In addition to an extensive range of food and beverage offerings, including the Premium Economy ‘Book the Cook’ service which enables advance ordering of a selection of main courses, Premium Economy Class will offer Priority check-in and baggage handling and a baggage allowance of 35kg.
Members of the KrisFlyer frequent-flyer programme will also receive 10% more miles when they fly in Premium Economy Class.
