SilkAir will increase their Singapore-Cairns services to daily flights in mid 2019 in response to increased demand. The additional flights, due to kick off on 2nd June 2019, subject to regulatory approvals, will offer greater accessibility and connectivity to travellers.
Silk Air will use Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft for the additional flights, operating on Tuesdays and Sundays. These aircraft are fitted with 12 Business Class and 144 Economy Class seats.

Tourism Industry Development Minister Kate Jones adds that demand for SilkAir’s service to Cairns had grown significantly. She said that Queensland Government support through the Attracting Aviation Investment Fund, aims to increase visits to Queensland through increased international aviation access.

In Australia, SilkAir also operates flights to Darwin. Parent company Singapore Airlines serves Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. Low-cost subsidiary Scoot serves the Gold Coast, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.
