In a response to seasonal demand for flights to connect Penang to East Malaysia, Malaysia Airlines will begin services on 18th November 2016 to Kota Kinabalu and Kuching from Penang. The new four times a week services will coincide with peak holiday periods with the initial flights being available until December 2016. The service will resume during the Chinese New Year period.
The introduction of these new seasonal services is in line with Malaysia Airlines stated intention of adopting a more agile and adaptive approach towards market needs. Malaysia Airlines CEO Peter Bellew has gone on record as saying the company, with it’s subsidiaries MASWings and Firefly, will work towards supporting and expanding domestic tourism.
….. This sector also complements Firefly’s schedule and benefits those looking for onward connections to Malaysia’s largest secondary cities. Peter Bellew
In conjunction with the launch of the new service, Malaysia Airlines has organised a seven-day sale with one-way Economy Class tickets to travel from Penang starting from RM169 to Kota Kinabalu and RM129 to Kuching. The fare includes 30kg check-in baggage, meals and comes free of credit card charges. The sale fares are available until 19th October 2016 for travel from 18th November to 31st December 2016.
