After 12 months of comprehensive transformation, The Island at Surfers Paradise has reopened its doors to the public. With a glamorous new look, it has re-emerged with a renewed focus on spectacular dining, accommodation and entertainment. Fittingly, the designers hope to tap into visitors’ sense of nostalgia in recreating the classic Gold Coast holiday.
A new look and a new focus
Brisbane party-goers will be familiar with the new owners. The Katarzyna Group is renowned for its establishments up north, including Cloudland, the Press Club and the Family (now known as EI8HT). Fine dining and stylish entertainment venues are therefore elements that guests will find in abundance at The Island. This includes a new rooftop bar and outdoor terrace, and an Italian-inspired restaurant headed by award-winning chef, Anthony Fullerton.
Note that while The Island has in the past been a favourite for school leavers, schoolies will no longer be welcomed during schoolies week. It is instead positioned as a haven for singles, corporates, couples and families – those after a bit of relaxation in a great location. Now open, Classic Twin rooms start at $149, with King Suites from $189 per night. Book at theislandgoldcoast.com.au.
