With Singapore’s Seletar Airport due to open for scheduled flights on 1st December 2018, it appears that a number of major issues remain unresolved. All turboprop services into Singapore Changi are expected to move to Seletar from that date. Firefly is the only airline currently offering such services.

Until the third week of November, it was possible to book flights after 1st December, although there was no change of airport mentioned. The airline has now posted the following information on its website. With a week to go, let’s see if the issues can be resolved.

SIN Flights Suspension

  1. Why did Firefly suspend the Subang (SZB) – Singapore (SIN), Singapore (SIN) – Kuantan (KUA) and Singapore (SIN) – Ipoh (IPH) routes?

Firefly had to suspend flights into Singapore until the relevant authorities have cleared remaining matters in relation to the Singapore authority’s plan to move turbo-prop operations from Changi International to Seletar. Firefly has not been provided any definitive timeline by the authorities for the delay. Upon final approval from the authorities, Firefly will then resume its flights into Singapore.
